Lewisville - ColorPalooza

Robert Lagerblad

Regarding ColorPalooza. We have another event the, Earth X 4/21-23, that needs to have people on site. Last year there were issues in general for me to gather volunteers, but we did ok. This year I have started to look at the following, Oak Cliff Earth Day 2023, Earth X 2023 and ColorPalooza. Unfortunately ColorPalooza has the lowest priority from my perspective. We’ll do what we can to fill what we see important and then look at the options.

Happy New Year, and thank you for your previous participation in ColorPalooza!

The City of Lewisville would like to invite you to participate in ColorPalooza on Saturday, April 22 in Old Town Lewisville. Event attendance is expected to be 3,500-5,000 people, weather dependent of course. Last year, our estimated attendance was around 4,500. Online vendor applications now available.

ColorPalooza is an arts, culture and Earth Day celebration. Eco-Alley vendors must have a sustainability focus. Eco-Alley vendors must provide educational information and demonstrations with an environmental theme. Since ColorPalooza is also an arts festival, hands-on, interactive activities are encouraged. Themes may include energy, air quality, recycling, conservation, etc.

The Eco-Alley vendor fee is $100, and the City provides a tent, tables and chairs. THE FEE IS WAIVED if you bring your own tent, table and chairs.

Thanks, and please let me know if you have any questions.

I provided solar electricity for ColorPalooza in the past, but for vendors that needed power .. not a sound stage. Mike Renner teamed up with me one year because they needed power in two very divergent locations, one of which was the sound stage. Results were very successful when it was just me, as well as the year it was both of us.

It's my understanding the City of Lewisville changed organizers, and I'm told the new person (or persons) in charge didn't like (or didn't trust) solar energy. Subsequently, they rented a generator for their event power. This was a few years ago. I've not heard from them since.

ColorPalooza isn't an environmental event. It's a community event where sustainability aspects are a part, but not the focus.

We did this event in the past and as recall it was a full day well-attended event. We set up early, next to the EV clubs.  If we chose to participate, I have canopy, tables, chairs to waive $100 entry fee. Lissa has table covers and other supplies. Mike and James probably have other.  Perchance is Dan powering the sound stage?
